When I was a little girl, my Grandpa Charlie always gave my mom a big fancy bottle of Shalimar for Christmas. When she would open it under the tree she would act like she had no idea what it was (even with my sisters and I screaming out the surprise) and I must admit I loved every moment of the charade.
Whenever I smelled even a whiff of that Shalimar I knew for sure my parents were headed out for a night on the town. For me, that meant a baby sitter that would fall asleep during Love Boat so I could get away with watching Fantasy Island... AND a Salisbury steak TV dinner with mashed potatoes, corn and an overcooked hocky puck brownie (and people wonder why I have been a vegetarian for 20 years) .....at that time it was a dream come true!
Not too long ago my hubby and I were getting ready for a night out of our own. I greeted our regular sitter Nancy at the door and when she walked in she took a deep breath in and said "mmmm....Marc Jacobs...Jackie is GOING OUT!" It was such a moving moment as I realized I too had my own signature scent and when I looked over at my daughter she had a big grin that meant cheese pizza, root beer and all the Hannah Montana and Spongebob she could watch.....her own dream come true!
Who knew a few simple products could take us to such a magical place???
I get requests on a weekly if not daily basis about selling certain products at Brow Betty. Everything from homemade lip balms to "big brand" hair products have tried to get in the doors of our little salon and to be honest...that's just not what we are about! When I put our business model together retail sales was a compliment to our services..NOT the other way around. If we use a product on you that helps or enhances your look and feel...than we will sell it to you! Plain and simple.
Trends tend to change quicker than a Kardashian wedding and we are always trying to keep ahead of the curve.... I love to sample new products and as I type we are STILL in the process of picking out a brow pencil that doesn't look like the one my mom used on her Shalimar nights out (YIKES!)
